About Hanna Academy

Why We Exist

Changing Trajectories, One Student at a Time

Hanna Academy is where youth with IEPs are seen, supported, and equipped to succeed.

Hanna Academy is a nonpublic high school built for students who need something different—and better. We serve youth with IEPs who have experienced trauma or face emotional and behavioral challenges that make traditional schools a tough fit. Here, students receive individualized attention, consistent support, and real opportunities to grow—academically, emotionally, and personally.

Our faculty specialize in trauma-informed education, understanding that healing and learning must happen together. Through hands-on career training, small classes, and a relationship-first approach, we help students regain confidence, build skills, and shape a future they can believe in.

Academy Status

Now a Nonpublic School

On July 1, 2023, Hanna Academy launched its inaugural school year as an independent California public benefit corporation, recognized as a federal 501c3 exempt organization. The newly formed Hanna Academy Board of Directors – completely independent of Hanna Center – oversees the new Hanna Academy Nonpublic High School, exclusively serving students who have a qualifying Individual Education Plan (IEP).

Hanna Academy accepts referrals for student placement via their Individual Education Plan (IEP).
